On Monday, October 9, 2023, the signing ceremony of the delivery of the General Support Ship “PERSEAS” to the Hellenic Navy took place at the Naval Station of Salamis. The ceremony was attended by the Minister of National Defence, Mr. Nikos Dendias, the Chief of HNDGS General Konstantinos Floros, the Chief of General Staff Vice Admiral Ioannis Drymoussis HN and the Chief of the Fleet Vice Admiral Dimitrios Eleftherios Kataras.
The ship is yet another donation of Rear Admiral Hon. Panos Laskaridis, continuing the series of ship donations to the Hellenic Navy, such as the Naval Training Ship “KYKNOS” and the PYS “ATLAS 1”, “HERCULES” and “AIAS”, which are part of the strength of our Fleet and are already very important units supporting naval operations.
The Minister of National Defence, in his address, said, inter alia, that he feels particularly honored and delighted today to attend the signing ceremony of the delivery of the General Support Ship “PERSEAS” to the Hellenic Navy and expressed the full gratitude of the country’s Armed Forces and the Greek society to the great donor.
“Our country has always stood thanks to the great tradition of donations and donors and Panos Laskaridis has his place, his important place, in this glorious tradition. Thank you very much.”
Rear Admiral Panos Laskaridis thanked the Minister and stressed his love for the Hellenic Navy and added that he considers it the obligation of every Greek to contribute according to his abilities to the country and to society. “Whoever has much, give much, whoever (has) less, according to his ability.”
