The winners of the “Ismini Goldsmith Karter Scholarship” meet with the Greek-Austrian String Academy “Strings in Motion”, founded by one of Ismini Karter’s most prominent students, Christos Kanettis, violinist and professor at the Mozarteum Salzburg University in Austria.
In the great concert, which is also given an anniversary character, as this year marks 10 years of the Panhellenic Violin Competition, in an exciting string ensemble, the exceptional virtuosos trace a passage through the Classical and Romantic period, focusing on works that the unforgettable Ismini Karter loved so much. Works by Edward Grieg, Antonio Vivaldi, Joseph Haydn, Astor Piazzola, Nicolo Paganini, W.A. Mozart.
The Panhellenic Violin Competition was organized for the first time in 2013 by the great violinist and Professor of the Athens Conservatory, Ismini Chrysochoou Karter. Since then, fifteen young talented Greek musicians have won the scholarship to study violin abroad and have seized the opportunity to train next to top violin teachers and participate in major orchestras, both in Greece and abroad. It is worth noting that more than 45 candidates have applied for the scholarship.
In 2022, Ismini Chrysochoou Karter passed away and left a legacy of her great work, appointing the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation as the successor of the Panhellenic Competition for the granting of the scholarship that bears her name.
The event is under the auspices of the Austrian Embassy in Athens.
