As part of the exhibition “The Antikythera Shipwreck: 124 years of underwater archaeological research 1900-2024“, we organize the educational workshop “A dive into underwater archaeology. An interactive history game in the Greek seas”, designed and implemented by Karpos’ team – Center for Educational Activities and Intercultural Communication (https://karposontheweb.org/), for children aged 10-14.
Children will tour the exhibition and through experiential and collaborative activities will learn how archaeologists work to uncover treasures that have been lost for centuries.
More specifically, children will have the opportunity
- Get to know the field of maritime archaeology.
- Understand how an underwater archaeologist works, collaborators
- of, what are the responsibilities and requirements.
- Understand the importance and information offered by
- underwater excavations, with emphasis on those of shipwrecks.
- See up close exhibits discovered in underwater areas
- archaeological excavations.
- Activate critical observation using digital
- tackle.
