The library came to the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation in 2016 and is estimated at 2,000 items. It includes books about politics, with an emphasis on the Left. Books on history and law are also included.

Biography

Eleftherios Gonis (1903-1973) was a lawyer and politician. He was born in Livadeia, studied law at the University of Athens and started working as a lawyer in his hometown, from 1925. He developed trade union activity. He was first elected in the province of Attikovoiotia with the Party of National Liberals in the elections of 1946. Then he was elected as a member of Parliament in Athens in 1951 and 1952 with the Greek Rally party. For the first time, he was Minister of Labor in the Sofoulis government from January 20 to April 14, 1949. In the government of Alexandros Papagos, he was again Minister of Labor from November 19, 1952 to December 15, 1954. He wrote “Memoirs” (1958). He died in 1973 in London, where he was hospitalized, and his body was transferred to Greece, where he was buried. He was married to Eleni Floria. (Source: Wikipedia)
