The library of Professor Norbert Kunisch

The library came to the Foundation in 2021. It contains over 1,200 items related to ancient Greek art and archaeology. Its main focus is ancient Greek vase painting.

Biography

Norbert Paul Kunisch (1934-2018) was a German archaeologist and director of the Department of Antiquities at the Museum of the University of Bochum. He studied classical archaeology, art history, and classical philology in Germany and Greece. He received his doctoral degree from the University of Munich in 1961. He participated in the excavations at Pergamon. From 1963, he began working in German museums. From 1979 to 1997, he served as the director of the Department of Antiquities at the Museum of the University of Bochum. He published several volumes on Greek vases preserved in German collections in the Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum Deutschland (CVA) series.
