The library was partially transferred to the Laskaridis Foundation and is estimated at approximately 1,500 items on various topics, with an emphasis on folklore.

Biography

Minas Al. Alexiadis (b. 1948) is Professor Emeritus of folklore at the University of Athens. He pursued studies in medieval and modern Greek philology and folklore at the University of Ioannina, and furthered his academic journey in social and cultural anthropology, ethnography, and folklore at University College London and the London School of Economics. Alexiadis imparted his expertise in folklore at the University of Ioannina and later at the University of Athens, where he became Professor. He held the esteemed title of Honorary Research Associate at King’s College, University of London, and served as director of the Dodecanese Cultural Foundation. Additionally, he holds the title of Honorary Professor at the University of Bucharest. Alexiadis also serves as “Arch Memoir of the Great Church of Christ of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.” and as “Archon Chartoularios” of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa. He is a member of numerous scientific societies and has contributed significantly to the field of folklore through his prolific writing and academic endeavors, garnering recognition from various cultural institutions.
