The Dimitris Athanasopoulos collection, one of the earliest collections donated to the Laskaridis Foundation, comprises books in both Greek and other European languages covering a diverse array of subjects: literature, poetry, history, religion, arts (theatre and music), economics, politics, and social sciences. It is supplemented by his personal archive. A small number of items has been added to our Lending Library.

Biography
Dimitris S. Athanasopoulos served for many years as Greece’s ambassador and permanent representative to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development – OECD. He graduated from the French École Nationale d’Administration (E.N.A.) and obtained a doctorate in political science (doctorat d’État). Beginning his professional journey in 1960 at the Ministry of Coordination, he navigated through various roles during Greece’s dictatorship, including positions in private enterprises such as the Doxiadis Office, Avions Marcel Dassault, and Bauxites Parnassos. In the post-dictatorship era, he was appointed by the government of Konstantinos Karamanlis as ambassador and permanent representative of Greece to the OECD. Additionally, from 1989 to 1991, he served as the Secretary-General of the National Center for Public Administration. Athanasopoulos authored numerous articles and studies primarily focusing on political and cultural subjects, and he was proficient in translating from French and Spanish.
