The library was donated to the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation in 2016 by the wife of Dionysis Mavrogiannis and consists of approximately 4,500 volumes. The collection is primarily focused on the humanities, with significant sections dedicated to sociology and psychology, while smaller sections cover history and literature.

Biography
Dionysis Mavrogiannis (1931-2010) was the first Vice-Rector and the second Rector of the University of Thrace. He held degrees in Law and Economics from the University of Athens, Social Sciences of Labour from the University of Paris, and Social Economy and Social Institutions from the École Pratique des Hautes Études. He obtained postgraduate diplomas in History, Sociology of Law, and Private Law from the Paris Law School and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Paris II with distinction. Mavrogiannis briefly practiced law in Patras before pursuing a career as a researcher and university professor in Greece and abroad. From 1969 to 2002, he conducted numerous scientific missions in thirty countries on behalf of the UN, the International Cooperative Alliance, the World Bank, and the International Committee for Cooperative Research. He was a member of various Greek and international scientific and cultural associations and participated in international and regional conferences. Mavrogiannis published numerous works in Greek, French, English, Spanish, and Russian. He also wrote poetry and prose under the literary pseudonym Asteris Thalassinos.
