The library of doctor Fotis Mitsis

The library was donated to the Foundation in 2019 through the generous donation of his daughter. It consists of approximately 2,000 items, mainly medical books and journals, but also includes other thematic categories such as literature, history, and the local history of Epirus.

Biography

Fotis Mitsis (1926-2019), originally from Thesprotia, was a dentist, doctor, and academic. He studied dentistry and medicine at the University of Athens and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Pennsylvania. He taught at the University of Athens, where he served as Dean and President of the School of Dentistry, and later as Rector of the University. He participated in scientific societies, councils, and both Greek and international scientific conferences, publishing more than 200 papers in Greek and foreign scientific journals. He held several significant positions in the public medical sector, including President of the Board of Evangelismos Hospital and member of the Board of the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center.
