As part of its goals to promote Greek Classical Studies, Literature and Greek Culture at an international level, the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation is pleased to announce the beginning of its collaboration with Tsinghua University in Beijing.
With the desire to support distinguished researchers from both countries, Greece and China, in order to gain a leading role in the future, the “Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation” and Tsinghua University agreed to organize the Tsinghua-Laskaridis Intercultural Program, with the aim of supporting and promoting Classical and Modern Greek Studies, Chinese-Greek relations, as well as academic work of Chinese students and researchers in China and Greece. The These objectives will be achieved both through academic research and through various exchanges and university activities of students and researchers of the two countries.
The Intercultural Program is part of the operation of the China-EU Relations Research Center of the School of Social Sciences of Tsinghua University. This Centre will establish a Chair of Classical and Modern Greek Studies, which will be named “Marilena Laskaridis Chair – Classics and Modern Greek Studies” and will operate in principle for a period of 5 years.
The signing of the agreement took place in a closed ceremony on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the premises of the “Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation”. The Foundation had the pleasure and honor to welcome the Chinese delegation, convinced that a solid and inclusive cultural cooperation between Greece and China will be a decisive and unprecedented step towards enhancing East-West understanding at international level.
