The painting exhibition “Wonderfully Different: Another Spectrum” is the personal communication and way of expression of Nikiforos Ilias Tsekouras, a teenager on the autism spectrum.
Nikiforos lives everything with undeceitful joy. He lives the elements of nature, the sea, the seagulls, the wind, the trees, the people around him with kindness. He does not understand this world for which he is invisible or even curious. Many people talk to him but do not address him. It cannot fit into moderation and human limits. From his own space, he has his own way of seeing the world around him. Space-place is defined by the things it experiences with all the senses, and is symbolically rendered.
Often the memory of the figures condenses its correlation with others through symbols, while expressing space through the blue of the horizon and the ochre of time. It depicts itself symbolically as an identification that seeks to learn things about life and to find friendship and love. The scream, the anxiety, the fear for this world that approaches but ignores or rejects it appears in some of his works.
But the colors are happy. They are bright full of vitality. They show an optimism, despite the difficulties. Thus, instead of being sad, he finds life interesting and travels with his own imagination among the stars, in forms full of emotions, in places that give him security.
He opens paths to the world around him. Love emerges.
The exhibition is part of the conference on the occasion of World Autism Information Day 2025 and will last until April 16, 2025.
