We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with our new grantee, Tom MacKinnon, which further highlights and promotes the rich collection of incunables in our Historical Library!
In addition to the detailed description of these rare items in the Material Evidence in Incunabula (MEI) database, high-resolution photographs showcasing their unique features will now be available in the Provenance Digital Archive.
Tom MacKinnon, an art historian and Library Assistant at the Heinz Archive and Library of the National Portrait Gallery in London, has undertaken the task of cataloging and documenting the photographic material. Concurrently, through a selective study of significant provenance details of the books, in collaboration with the Historical Library team, we expect to unlock new, exciting aspects of the books’ journey through time and space.
The grant is offered by the Consortium of European Research Libraries (CERL) and provides young professionals in the field of book history the opportunity to work for a month on innovative CERL projects related to rare books and archives in libraries across Europe and America. We are delighted to participate in this initiative, which supports early career scholars while also bringing to light important and rare elements of our own cultural heritage.
