The library of literary critic and author Kostas G. Papageorgiou

The library, a generous donation to the Foundation by Papageorgiou himself, primarily contains literature with a focus on modern Greek literature. It includes novels, poetry collections, short stories, essays, and studies, often featuring handwritten dedications from the authors.

Kostas G. Papageorgiou (1945-2021) was an award-winning poet and literary critic. He studied law and philology and worked as a lawyer from 1972 to 1978. He then devoted himself exclusively to literature and its study. He worked as a consultant for the Hellenic Radio and as a professor at the Drama School of the Athens Conservatory. He collaborated as a poet, essayist, and critic with literary journals as well as newspapers. He made his literary debut in 1966 with the collection “Poems.” In total, he published fourteen poetry collections, six books of prose, and five books of essays. He belonged to the “Generation of the ’70s,” which he himself systematically studied and named the “generation of negation.” For his work, he was honoured with significant awards and distinctions. His works have been translated into European languages, and his poems have been set to music by Thanos Mikroutsikos, Nikos Tatsis, and Haris Katsimihas.
