Part of Giannis Iordanidis’ personal library was donated by him to the Laskaridis Foundation in 2018. It contains Greek and foreign editions of plays as well as studies on theatre, cinema, opera, music, dance, painting, and Greek and foreign literature. The donation is accompanied by part of his film collection and archive.

Biography

Giannis Iordanidis is a director, playwright, translator, and acting professor. He was born in Cairo, Egypt, and settled in Greece in 1962. He studied at the Drama School of the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and the Kostis Michailidis School of Theater in Athens. He then studied at the Institute of Theatrical Studies and the Institute of Modern Greek Studies at Sorbonne University. He has directed over 100 performances in Greece and abroad and has participated in international theatre festivals. He has directed works by the most important playwrights of classical and contemporary drama. He is also involved in translating classical and contemporary plays, publishing numerous studies and articles on theatre in Greece and abroad, collaborating on theatrical publications, curating theatre-themed exhibitions, and conducting seminars and masterclasses for actors. He has been honored for his contribution to theatre with distinctions and awards in Greece and France.
