The library was donated to the Laskaridis Foundation in 2022 and consists of approximately 6,000 items. These books cover a wide range of topics, with a particular focus on literature, poetry, and theater.

Biography

Kostas Asimakopoulos (1930-2020) was a multifaceted Greek director, screenwriter, playwright, and critic. Born in Mytilene, he studied political science and became involved in theater at a young age, working as both a director and playwright, as well as in cinema. He wrote over 35 film scripts and five plays. In Greek cinema, he contributed as a screenwriter, director, producer, or co-star in 17 films. Additionally, he authored novels and short stories and represented Greek literature at various international conferences in countries such as Yugoslavia, Ireland, China, and Romania. Asimakopoulos was honored by the French Academy with the “Arts Sciences et Lettres” Prize. He was a member of the Society of Greek Writers, the Society of Greek Playwrights, the Greek Association of Flim Critics, the The Greek Film Archive Foundation, and the Ephorate of the Theater Museum. He also served as the Secretary General of the Hellenic Society of Literary Translators.
