Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation-Book review:

Book review: "Motherland, the wicked stepmother"

A shocking novel - document, the fruit of many years of research. In its pages it highlights the confrontation of the truth of the powerful and the complacent with the sad everyday life, many aspects of which still remain dark, indiscernible and unconfessed, a century later.

The Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation invites you to the presentation of Yiannis Siotos’ book Motherland, the wicked stepmother, on Monday, December 4 at 6.30 p.m. at the Historical Library of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation.

A few words about the book:

1922, August. The first refugees arrive at Greek ports. The next few months will be followed by a million hungry, desperate and ragged Greeks and Armenians from Eastern Thrace, Asia Minor, Pontus and Constantinople. The novel Motherland, the wicked stepmother focuses on their lives, mainly in Athens and Piraeus, from August 1922 to August 1923, with a realism that shocks.
